You guys asked for it, so for our next edition of In-Shape in the kitchen, we hit the counter to test out a bunch of different bulletproof coffee recipes, so we could bring you our top three favorites. We hope you enjoy waking up to these bad boys as much as we do!

 

Adding butter to a hot drink is nothing new. Yak butter tea is a hot tea drink that the people of Nepal, India, and Tibet have enjoyed for centuries. So why the sudden interest in adding butter or another form of fat into one’s morning Joe? Some consumers of “bulletproof coffee”–also known as "butter coffee"–boast extra energy. Others claim weight-loss success. Some use it as part of their keto lifestyle. Many just enjoy the creamy taste. Although all of our reasons for trying one of these recipes may vary, we all have one goal in common: drinking coffee in the morning!

 

If you’re used to a little sugar in your coffee, you’ll definitely notice its absence here. Instead of adding refined sugar, try a sugar substitute like stevia in its place.

 Bullet Coffee

Classic Bulletproof Coffee Recipe

1 Cup freshly brewed coffee

1 Tablespoon MCT oil

1 Tablespoon unsalted butter

 

Directions

Combine the MCT oil, unsalted butter, and freshly brewed coffee in a high-speed blender. Blend for several seconds to thoroughly mix the ingredients. Pour into a coffee mug or tea cup and serve immediately.

 

Vanilla Bulletproof Coffee Recipe

1 Cup freshly brewed coffee

1 Tablespoon unsalted butter

¼ Teaspoon vanilla extract

2 Teaspoons unsweetened coco powder

 

Directions

Combine the unsalted butter, vanilla extract, unsweetened coco powder, and freshly brewed coffee in a high-speed blender. Blend for several seconds to thoroughly mix the ingredients. Pour into a coffee mug or tea cup and serve immediately.

 

Cinnamon Bulletproof Coffee Recipe

1 Cup freshly brewed coffee

1 Tablespoon heavy whipping cream

¼ Teaspoon almond extract

Dash cinnamon

 

Directions

Combine the heavy whipping cream, almond extract, cinnamon, and freshly brewed coffee in a high-speed blender. Blend for several seconds to thoroughly mix the ingredients. Pour into a coffee mug or tea cup and serve immediately.
