Just because you can’t make it to the gym every day during the holiday season, doesn’t mean you have to give up hope all together. These quick tips will keep you on top of it, even when you’re nowhere near the club. Plus, they’re just plain fun.

 

Search for Christmas Lights

Take a walk around your neighborhood, and spot the houses decked out in Christmas lights and decorations. This is an easy way to fit in exercise because it’s disguised with a bit of Christmas cheer.

 

Sign Up for a Holiday 5K

Many areas offer holiday-themed 5k runs and walks. Find one in your area, and sign up for it! To make it even more exciting, try dressing up in holiday colors or attire.

 

Take the Long Way

Plan a holiday shopping trip at your local mall. Instead of taking the most convenient way to the stores you need to visit, take the long way. Park on the opposite side of the mall as the store you want to start at. This will add steps (and exercise) to your day.

 

Avoid Shopping on an Empty Stomach

We’re not kidding—eating a healthy meal or snack before you go shopping will help you avoid grabbing junk food while you’re on the go. This will save you from making bad decisions while you’re out and about. 

 

Put Down the Booze and Dance

With so many holiday parties marked on this month’s calendar, make sure to add in some movement while you’re attending each. Put down your food plate and drink, and hit the dance floor. Dancing can help you burn a ton of calories, plus you’ll steer clear of downing extra drinks throughout the party. 

 

Swap Your Chocolate

We don’t mean swap out your chocolate completely. What we mean is swap out milk chocolate for dark chocolate. Why? Because it’s simply better for you.
