The summer heat is fast approaching. No matter what you’re plans are this summer, you have to keep yourself healthy, safe and happy. Have fun in the sun and keep in mind these three tips!
1. Apply Sunscreen
Whether you’re outside playing a game of soccer or lounging by the pool it’s important to keep your skin protected. Reapply your sunscreen often so it doesn’t wear off. Sunscreen acts as a UV barrier, so even if you’re a tanner, sunscreen can still provide the protection you need while getting a tan. When using SPF 30, ninety-seven percent of the harmful rays can be prevented from damaging your skin. The higher the SPF your lotion has, the more protection your sunscreen will provide. Remember, burns can be painful and your skin will appreciate the love. Don’t end your day looking like a lobster.
2. Stay Hydrated
With the summer heat, it’s very important to keep yourself hydrated. Don’t wait until you feel thirsty. Keep your body filled with fluids constantly throughout the day. Even if you are just relaxing poolside, keep a drink on hand. Being in the sun, especially during peak hours (10am-6pm) can exhaust your body. Provide your body with plenty of fluids, before, during and after your time outside in the hot summer day. Also, take a break and spend some time cooling down in the shade. It’s a great way to keep yourself from overheating.
Wearing sunglasses is the best way to protect your eyes from the sun’s harmful rays. Not protecting your eyes now, can lead to problems in your sight later. When purchasing sunglasses find those that can block out 99-100% of the UV rays. Sunglasses are extremely important in maintaining good eye health. So, if you’re spending a day at the pool, throw on a pair to keep yourself safe. Take the accessorizing factor a little further. For even more coverage, throw on a wide brimmed hat and other protective clothing to keep away sun damage. Don’t forget to keep your children protected as well.
