Take The 60-Second Self-Care Challenge
You've probably seen our fitness challenges here on the blog or on our social channels. Maybe you've even participated in a few! Since May is Mental Health Month, we're featuring a different kind of challenge. Each day this week, challenge yourself to 60 seconds of self-care, following our guide below.
There are 1,440 minutes in a day, and we want you to spend just one of them doing something for yourself - then spread the love by tagging your friends to try the challenge. And don’t forget to tag your posts on Facebook and Instagram with #60SecondSelfCare!
Day 1: Write down three things you’re grateful for #gratitude
Gratitude is a great way to practice self-care. Studies show that people who practice a grateful mindset show improved sleep and fewer symptoms of depression. Some people like to keep a nightly gratitude journal or brainstorm grateful thoughts while they brush their teeth. Today, we want you to start small: just write down three things you’re grateful for. Check out our stories on Facebook and Instagram for Coach Jacqueline’s tips for finding gratitude, even in the littlest of things.
Day 2: Hold a 60-second plank #strength
Challenging yourself to hold a plank for 60 seconds will help you feel in tune with your body and will also give you a sense of accomplishment. Check out our stories on Facebook and Instagram for Coach Andy’s tips for the perfect plank.
Day 3: Give someone a compliment #courage
Really take a moment to appreciate something you admire about someone and tell them! Paying compliments shows appreciation and make us feel good. Bonus points if the compliment is for yourself. Check out our stories on Facebook and Instagram for Kailee’s compliments.
Day 4: Dance like no one’s watching #energy
Put on your favorite song and turn the volume up! Jam out for 60 seconds. Feel free to finish the whole song. Get the kiddos involved too!
Day 5: Take 10 deep breaths as slowly as you can #breathe
You’ll be amazed at how calm you feel after one minute of slow, mindful breathing. Check out our stories on Facebook and Instagram for Coach Jacqueline’s favorite, easy to do, breathing exercises.
Day 6: Squats for 60 seconds #power
How many squats can you complete before your minute is up? Start the timer and let’s find out! Check out our stories on Facebook and Instagram for Coach Andy’s tips for the perfect squat. This is a great challenge to do monthly to measure how your strength and conditioning is improving.
Day 7: Google “cute puppy pictures.” #love
You’re welcome in advance. If that doesn’t take up the whole sixty seconds, add some new cuteness to your Instagram feed by scrolling through photos from @MayaPolarBear…or @sukiicat, if you’re a cat person.
