Healthy Recipe for 2016: Out with the plate, in with the bowl
A new year means new health trends! In 2015 Kale had its fame and could be found in almost everything. This year is all about the bowl. Bowls are no longer just for soup, everyone will be eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner out of a bowl in 2016. This trend had its start with smoothie bowls, and now has branched out due to the popularity. There are even restaurants that serve all their meals in bowls, a few famous ones can be found in California if you are near the Los Angeles area.
Portion control is the reason this trend is taking off. Having an appropriate sized bowl is a good way to get the correct portions of protein, grain, and veggies. It could also be due to your mind thinking you are eating more food since you see it stacked on top of each other instead of laid flat on a plate.
Just because you are eating out of a bowl doesn’t mean you can only eat salads; there are tons of varieties of food you can eat! In addition to smoothie bowls, there are grain bowls, macro bowls, veggie bowls, and sushi bowls just to name a few. Try to take your average meal and put it in a bowl to see what it’s like. If you are ready to embrace the trend, here is a classic recipe to start you off in 2016!
