Matcha is a special type of green tea. With a typical green tea, the leaves are infused in hot water to make a tea, and then the leaves or tea bag is thrown out. Not the case with matcha! The green tea leaves are ground finely and then added to hot water to consume. Drinking the tea leaves, instead of discarding them, makes this concoction particularly potent. Trader Joe’s sells single serve packets of this potent powder, so head there to stock your pantry (and your freezer with frozen fruit while you’re at it!).

What you need:

  • 1 cup coconut water
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 serve of vanilla protein powder (we used Motiv-8 Vanilla Cake flavor)
  •  ½ cup spinach
  • 1 teaspoon of matcha powder
