#StaceyStrong Charity Pickleball Tournament
Join us for a two-day charity pickleball tournament in honor of our friend Stacey Carniglia benefitting the Special Olympics Northern California. The tournament includes women’s and men’s doubles on Saturday and mixed doubles on Sunday. Pool Play draws with Playoff Brackets. All participants will receive a commemorative event t-shirt. Medals will be awarded to the winners.
Stacey Ann Carniglia was born September 16th, 1957 in Stockton California. She received a B.A. in Sports Medicine in 1986 and a M.A. in Special Education in 1987 from the University of the Pacific. Stacey was the Adaptive Physical Education Specialist and coach for the Special Olympics for Tracy Unified School District for 30 years. During this time, she also administered the Special Olympics Program for San Joaquin County. Stacey dedicated her professional life to working with mental and physical disability for students ranging from 3-76 years of age.
She was extraordinary in her commitment to sport and exercise. Stacey played competitive pickleball and also enjoyed boogie boarding, surfing, snowboarding, dirt biking, golfing, boating and getting away in her RV as much as possible. She loved every moment she was at the ocean, with Aptos holding a special place in her heart.
She was diagnosed with glioblastoma at age 61 in 2019. Stacey passed away peacefully in her own home surrounded by family and friends on April 17th, 2021. She lived life with amazing strength, vibrancy, and enthusiasm.
Click here if you would like to support the event but don’t play pickleball. All donors with donations of $50 or more will receive a #StaceyStrong commemorative t-shirt which will be mailed to you.
