SMALL GROUP TRAINING

Our small group training programs are built around you. Whether you’re powering through VTL: FIT, BOX, ROW, LFT or LES MILLS CEREMONY HYROX, In-Shape Fitness offers the right mix of coaching, energy and support to help you reach your goals.

Unlimited small group training sessions are included with the Preferred Plus Perks.

VTL: FIT

Expect a high-energy, effective and challenging full-body workout led by a motivating trainer in a small group setting. Each 50-minute session is split into two working blocks made up of 6 stations of cardio, strength, core and recovery. Experience the perfect blend of heart-pounding cardio and muscle-building strength training with our community of members while having fun!

VTL: BOX

Throw punches and combos to challenge your endurance, build strength with intentionally designed movements and condition your core. Work your way through three stations twice in 50 minutes and finish with purposeful recovery. Wraps and gloves required. Please arrive 5 minutes early.

VTL: ROW

Drive power on the row machine to challenge your endurance and build strength with intentionally designed movements and condition your core. Work your way through three stations twice in 50 minutes and finish with purposeful recovery to have you walk out of this session feeling better than when you walked in.

This 50-minute strength training session is for lifters at any level, from beginners to powerhouses. You’ll train with barbells, dumbbells and squat racks, targeting upper, lower, or full-body with purpose and grit. You’ll push your limits with heavy lifts, smart progression and controlled reps. Max out, load up and grind through every rep. Just six lifters per session means focused coaching, real accountability and serious results.

LES MILLS CEREMONY HYROX

LES MILLS CEREMONY HYROX is a 45-minute, small-group training class that focuses on strength, cardio and conditioning for a total body workout. In every class, we move through eight exercises in a lane (on the turf), built to bring out the best in you. Each workout is unique, scientifically designed with a range of exercises, equipment and tailored work/rest intervals. With LES MILLS CEREMONY HYROX, you’ll find a community that has your back, motivating music to push you through each set and expert coaches ready to help you give it your all.

What should I expect in a Small Group Training session?

Small Group Training is a coach-led workout experience designed to help you train with purpose and get results. Choose from multiple formats, including VTL Training (VTL: FIT, BOX, ROW and LFT) and LES MILLS CEREMONY HYROX – each offering a different way to build strength, improve conditioning and stay motivated.

What is the difference between the Small Group Training formats?

All Small Group Training formats deliver dynamic, results-driven workouts, each with a unique focus:

  • VTL: FIT – A turf-based workout combining strength, cardio and functional training
  • VTL: BOX – Boxing-inspired conditioning paired with strength and core work
  • VTL: ROW – Rowing-based cardio combined with strength training
  • VTL: LFT – Progressive strength training using barbells, racks and controlled lifts
  • LES MILLS CEREMONY HYROX – A high-energy, athletic-style workout that blends strength, cardio and performance training 

Each session is expertly programmed and led by certified coaches to help you get the most out of every workout.

Where is Small Group Training available?

Small Group Training is available at the following In-Shape Fitness locations:

  • VTL: BOX - Bakersfield Riverlakes, Bakersfield Seven Oaks, Bakersfield White Lane, Concord, Napa, Visalia Mooney and Victorville.
  • VTL: ROW - Bakersfield Riverlakes, Bakersfield Seven Oaks, Bakersfield White Lane, Concord, Napa, Visalia Mooney and Victorville.

Who has access to Small Group Training?

Small Group Training  is currently included with the Preferred Plus Perks. Members can also add Small Group Training to their existing membership for an additional $20 per month.

Active members with memberships that do not include Small Group Training are issued one Access Pass. This is available to active members in a market where Small Group Training is offered. The pass offers 1 session to try with 60 days expiration from the date of issue.

I don’t have access to Small Group Training currently, but I want access! How soon after I change my membership will it take for me to reserve a session?

Membership changes at the club can take up to an hour to fully process. Online membership changes can take up to three days to fully process. If you would like to make a membership change for Small Group Training access, please contact Member Services or speak with a team member at the Welcome Desk.

I received a Small Group Training access pass. How do I redeem my session?

If you received a Small Group Training trial, you will be able to book a session through the In-Shape Fitness app or Member Hub. Free Small Group Training access passes expire 60 days from the date of issue.

I redeemed my trial session and loved it. How do I gain access to VTL Training and/or LES MILLS CEREMONY HYROX moving forward?

Small Group Training is currently included with the Preferred Plus Package. Members can also add Small Group Training to their existing membership for an additional $20 per month. To upgrade, contact the Welcome Desk, Member Services or visit the Access + Perks > Clubs + Programs section of the mobile app.

I didn’t receive a free trial session, but I want to train! When can I try Small Group Training?

All active In-Shape Fitness members over the age of 18 at clubs that offer Small Group Training will receive a free trial. Please speak with a team member at the Welcome Desk for further assistance.

BEFORE YOU TRAIN

How much time will it take for me to check in and set up for class?

For all training formats, be sure to arrive 5 minutes before the session starts. If it’s your first session, the trainer will be available to meet you and walk you through training set-up.

What should I wear to train?

Bring a water bottle, towel, proper training or running shoes, and wear comfortable clothing that doesn’t hold you back from your best training session yet.

For VTL: BOX, wraps and gloves are required for safety. You can bring your own wraps or purchase at In-Shape Fitness. Boxing gloves are provided in the studio and available for you to use.

RESERVE YOUR SPOT

How do I make a reservation?

Reservations are required and you can make your reservation in the In-Shape Fitness app before your training session starts. Click here for instructions on how to make a Small Group Training reservation in the app.

Can I cancel my reservation if I can’t make the class?

Members who cannot attend their training session are expected to cancel their reservation at least 2 hours prior to the session start time.

What if I’m late to my training session?

Be sure to arrive within the first 5 minutes of your session’s start time. Members who arrive later than the 5-minute grace period will be marked as no-show and may incur a no-show fee.

*Members are issued one (1) free access passes to try small group training at any of the In-Shape Fitness clubs offering VTL Training or LES MILLS CEREMONY HYROX. Passes expire 60 days after issued. The pass grants access to try a VTL: FIT, VTL: BOX, VTL: ROW, VTL: LFT or LES MILLS CEREMONY HYROX training session. Not valid for members under the age of 18. For new members, pass expires 60 days from date of join. Reservations are required. A $2 no-show fee will be applied if reservations are not canceled 2 hours prior.
