What Is The InBody Test, And Should I Try It?

In-Shape | 24 Jan, 2022 | Wellness Tips & Trends | Return|

Want to see what you’re really made of? Fitness is about way more than a number on a scale, and BMI measurements don’t take muscle into account. So, what’s really the best way to measure results? We’d like to introduce you to the InBody.

About the InBody

In just 45 seconds, this machine monitors your weight, muscle, fat and water. It then breaks that data down for you in a printout and can even chart your progress over time. Sometimes, your actual weight won’t change even when you’re showing progress because you’re increasing muscle and decreasing fat at the same time. With the InBody, you’ll finally be able to see that progress.

Not only will you see how much you weigh; you’ll understand how much of that weight is muscle, fat or water. Keeping an eye on your Body Fat Percentage is a great, healthy way to track your progress on your health and fitness journey. The InBody also breaks down your muscle percentage into different segments of your body, which will show you what areas you want to work on, or if one of your arms or legs is stronger than the other.

How accurate is is it?

Your body is always changing, and some factors can affect your scan. We recommend waiting three hours after a big meal or hard workout before doing a scan.

How does it work?

The InBody uses bioelectrical impedance analysis. To precisely measure body composition, it sends multiple electrical currents through the body, resulting in up to six different impedance readings for the trunk and each of the four limbs. The currents are very mild – you won’t feel a thing.

What do I do?

Doing a scan is super easy. You’ll remove your shoes, socks, and empty your pockets. Then, you’ll stand on the scanner platform and hold the handles. The machine will guide you through what to do. You’ll enter your phone number so you can track your progress over time, and take a printout home with you showing your results.
