Cure the [Sun] Burn with Home Remedies
- Using typical aloe can help cure your burns. If you have access to an aloe vera plant, cut a few slits into a piece of the plant and squeeze the gel onto your burn. You can also purchase the aloe gel from your nearby drugstore!
- A simple bath can truly help soothe your body. Your bath shouldn’t contain any soap, as the suds can cause irritation and dryness. Instead, submerge yourself into a cool water bath, drying off with a clean towel, dabbing your skin to avoid irritation.
- Now head to your kitchen for these next to remedies: You are going to need ½ cup of live cultured plain yogurt. The probiotics and enzymes in the yogurt are what help heal your skin. For best results, keep the cool yogurt on your skin for five minutes before washing it off with cool water.
- Similar to yogurt, milk also contains the probiotics and enzymes necessary for healing your skin. Simply take a washcloth and a bowl filled with chilled milk and soak your washcloth into the milk. Then without ringing out the milk, let the milk drip out before apply the cold compress to your sunburns.
- Tea bags are also good remedies, especially if those burns are on your eyelids. Simply soak the tea bags in cool water and let the tannic acid from the tealeaves help reduce the swelling and your pain.
You may try these remedies when you are feeling a little too sun kissed and need to relieve your hot burning skin! Hopefully one these remedies will soothe your skin as you allow yourself to heal! Remember, to try to stay out of the sun and apply and reapply sunscreen!
