#InShapeFightsCancer Recap: Making Strides
The Stockton kickoff was an inspiring event, filled with love and lots of energy (not to mention a ton of PINK!).
It all started with In-Shape employee, Darlene, belting out our beautiful National Anthem, followed by honest and tear jerking speeches. One from In-Shape employee and breast cancer warrior, Mandy O. (you can read her story here) and In-Shape’s CTO Jon R. who lost his father to cancer.
Our C.E.O. Rich Nelsen was recognized as one of Stockton’s executives participating in the Real Men Wear Pink campaign which also supports breast cancer research for the American Cancer Society.
Before the walk, several of our group fitness instructors led a U-JAM warm up which got our blood moving and our hearts singing!
Participants hit the pavement for a 3 mile walk with friends, family, coworkers, and community members around the lake. With delicious snacks and coffee from local merchants, participants refueled before heading home for the rest of their weekends. What a way to kickoff the weekend!
The Making Strides Event in Modesto began with the Opening Ceremony, highlighting another Support Center employee, Laura R who sang the National Anthem! Inspiring, moving and motivating speeches followed from several survivors or those affected by cancer, including In-Shape employee Dan W.
The warm up was another body rocking U-Jam session led by three amazing group fitness instructors, and after followed the walk with In-Shape employees, family, friends and the Modesto community.
The last stride was in Bakersfield, California this past weekend with an amazing turnout and tons of communities coming together to walk against cancer!
