COVID-19 UPDATES & FAQS

MASK POLICY

Masks are required for all individuals in all indoor public settings, regardless of vaccination status from December 15, 2021 through February 15, 2022 (surgical masks or higher-level respirators are recommended).

Masks and Proof of Vaccination or negative test results Required in Contra Costa County

Effective 12/29/21, masks are now required in our Contra Costa County clubs at all times per county mandate, even if you are fully vaccinated. All members ages 12+ must also show proof of full vaccination or negative COVID-19 test results (within 3 days) to enter our Antioch, Brentwood and Concord locations. Please allow extra time for check-in.

What do I need to do?
Bring your proof when visiting the club, we will verify it meets the county requirements before entry.

What forms of proof can I use to show I am vaccinated?
You can show us a CDC vaccination record card, a copy or photo of the card, a digital vaccine record issued by the State of California, or a negative COVID-19 test result (within 3 days).

What type of test results will be accepted?
Test results can be paper or digital, legible copies or photos. It could be a note from a healthcare provider or a report from a laboratory. Make sure the name on the record matches your photo ID. Please make sure the date on the test is AT MOST three days ago, and the result was negative.

Please note: at home self-test results will not be accepted.

What if I’m only partially vaccinated?
People are fully vaccinated 14 days after receiving the second dose of Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, or 14 days after receiving one dose of a Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) COVID-19 vaccine. If you are not fully vaccinated, you will be required to show a negative COVID-19 test result (within 3 days) for entry.

I’m not fully vaccinated. Which part of the club can I use?
Your access will be limited to outdoor amenities and equipment. The indoor locker rooms and rest rooms will be available as well.

I’m fully vaccinated. Do I need to show proof every time?
No, you’ll just need to show your proof of vaccination once. We’ll record it in our check-in system that indicates you’ve shown proof.

I’m medically exempt from getting the COVID-19 vaccine and don’t want to show a negative test result each time I go to the club. What do I do?
At this time, obtaining a negative test result if you wish to use the indoor areas of the club is the only available accommodation for the medical exemption from the COVID-19 vaccine requirement.

I want to put my membership on hold. How do I do that?
You can place a hold on your membership for up to three months. A $5 monthly hold fee will apply. You can place a hold on your membership by accessing the PROFILE section in the app. Click here for instructions on how to put your membership on hold.

TEMPERATURE CHECKS

Temperature checks are not required for members.

CLUB RESERVATIONS

You do not need a reservation to visit the club. Reservations are still required for studio classes, Kid Zone and select amenities including pool lanes, tennis, pickleball and racquetball courts.

CLUB AMENITIES

All areas of the club and most club amenities are available without restrictions including:

  • Sauna
  • Steam Room
  • Indoor spas
  • Racquetball courts

CLUB ACCESS

There are no longer restrictions on how long members can work out at the club. Members can visit the club multiple times per day and each amenity may be reserved up to 3 times per day

All clubs are currently OPEN

BILLING

All billing is linked to your home club. Members will be charged on their regularly scheduled billing date. For members with add-ons on their memberships which are currently not available, (towel service, VIP service, etc.) we will deduct that fee from your monthly billing statement.

Annual fee billing resumed the month your home club reopened. It will continue to be drafted on the 14th of the same month each year. For example, if your clubs reopened March 1st, your annual fee will be drafted on March 14th each year. See our Annual Fee FAQs for more info.

Yes, you can freeze your account for up to three months. A hold fee will be applied starting July 1, 2021. You can place a hold on your account by accessing the Profile section in the app.  Click here to download the In-Shape App.

We will not be billing for any service that has been purchased as an add-on to your membership that is not available when we re-opened. If you purchased towel service, VIP or Perks we will deduct these fees from your monthly billing each month they are unavailable.

CLUB EXPERIENCE

No, you will not need a reservation to visit the club. Reservations are still required for group fitness classes, Kid Zone and select amenities including pool lanes, tennis, pickleball and racquetball courts. Amenity reservations can be made up to 3 days in advance and each amenity may be reserved up to 3 times per day.

Reservations are made using the In-Shape app or Member Hub.

If you don't see the Reservations tile on the home screen, make sure you are using the newest In-Shape app. The app icon should have a kettlebell on it.

You can make a club reservation in the Member Hub using these steps:

  • If you haven’t used the Member Hub or In-Shape app, you will need to set up a login. Click here and select Create a Login.
  • From any page of the website, select Member in the Select Your View tab under the In-Shape logo and click Member Login in the top right corner.
  • Follow the prompts to login, then select Club Reservations from the top menu.
  • Click the + sign and follow the prompts to make a reservation at your club.

There are no longer any restrictions on how long members can work out at the club.

If you can’t make it to the club, please cancel your amenity reservation so another member may take that slot. You can then rebook another amenity or studio class the same day or a different day, pending availability.

Your reservation will automatically cancel at the end of the 30-minute reservation window. It will not show as a check-in. You can rebook your amenity or studio class for another time the same day or another day, pending availability. As a courtesy to our members, we do ask that if you are unable to attend, please cancel your reservation so another member may use that slot.

Reservations can be made in the mobile app 3 days in advance.

Hours vary by location. Please check the In-Shape app to see the hours for your club.

There are no restrictions on how many members can access the club at any given time per California regulations.

Kid Zone is currently open at all clubs. You will need to make a reservation for your child prior to visiting the club. Kid Zone is available for children between the ages of 3-12.

Yes, you will need the app to check-in. You will also need the app to make a reservation for studio classes, make a retail purchase, update your account and see all other communications.  We no longer accept key cards or verbal check-ins with the front desk.

No, we are eliminating the use of cash to have a more touchless experience. You can update your profile in the In-Shape app to add a credit card for billing. This makes it easy and fast to purchase any item with little to no contact.

Towel service is currently available at all Lifestyle and Ultimate Clubs. If you are a member of a Core Club, please bring your own towel. If you forget one, we will have towels available for purchase. If you have added towels as a paid amenity on your Account, you will be credited for that amount.

No, please do not bring your own hand weights to the club. We will continue to clean and disinfect all our equipment to ensure everyone's safety.

Yes. Please store your bag in a locker if it is larger than 11in x 17in while you are working out, so it doesn’t become a trip hazard in the club. Small cinch bags, duffle bags, back packs or fanny packs may be with you while working out.

Personal training is not currently available.

Yes. Reservations are required for classes. It’ll guarantee your spot and no waiting in line. Make your reservation in the app and we’ll see you in class!

Basketball has reopened at select clubs, but remain closed at others due to repurposing the courts for other activities including group fitness and pickleball. See below for details.

Basketball courts are UNAVAILABLE at the following clubs, reopening dates are TBD:

  • El Dorado
  • Salinas
  • Vacaville Browns Valley
  • Victorville

Yes! Tennis, racquetball and pickleball are open. All members are required to use their own equipment. Court reservations are required and can be made on the In-Shape App.

Yes. Singles and Doubles play are allowed on tennis, racquetball and pickleball courts.

  • See the In-Shape app for your club's indoor pool status and availability
  • Please book your pool lane reservation in the In-Shape app before coming to the club.
  • Bring your own towel.
  • Please dry off in the pool area completely before walking through the club to avoid slip hazards.
  • Members cannot change in pool cabanas.
  • Pool cover-ups and robes are allowed.
  • Swim accessories are allowed. Please bring your own mask, goggles, swim cap or kickboard for lap swimming.

SAFETY MEASURES

In-Shape has established a very thorough cleaning protocol for Team Members to follow throughout the day to ensure equipment and all areas of the club are sanitized. These protocols have been developed taking into consideration CDC, EPA and public health official guidelines.

We will have In-Shape team members cleaning all open areas of the gym throughout every day and doing a deep clean every night after closing. All cleaning products and tools are EPA and CDC approved.

In order to keep our pools and spas safe, In-Shape uses VivoAquatics, a system that automatically measures and maintains proper chemical levels. VivoAquatics has received CMAHC Certification for CDC Safety Standards.

We are requesting that all members disinfect equipment after use. We are also asking members to wash their hands frequently and/or use hand sanitizer. We are providing extra sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizer stations.

All physical distancing requirements have been lifted.

No. Temperature checks are be required for members. Team members will continue to have their temperatures checked before reporting to work.

  • In-Shape is providing PPE equipment for all team members including disposable gloves and safety glasses
  • Team members are trained on new hand washing, physical distancing protocols and club cleaning standards
  • The In-Shape clean approach was designed to keep the club clean with the safety of all members and team members as a top priority
  • If a team member is feeling sick or showing Covid-19 symptoms, they are required to stay home and not report to work
